Arafatka - Arabic men's headscarf instead of a face mask. How to wear - options
Reflecting on the topic of masks, I noticed that some women, not having a mask or not wanting to wear it, get out of the situation by covering their face with a silk scarf or scarf. On the one hand, it is functionally similar to the effect of a simple mask, on the other hand, it looks more elegant and not so apocalyptic, depressing.

And in this regard, I remembered about an absolutely masculine and brutal analogue of a ladies' scarf. This is an Arab head scarf for men - "arafatka" (in russian lang).

A black and white or red and white scarf is an indispensable attribute in a men's wardrobe in the regions of the Middle East, the Persian Gulf, and North Africa. In the summer heat, a scarf made of cotton fabric protects the head from the sun's rays; in a sandstorm, the scarf protects the nose, mouth, eyes from the sand, and in cool weather it can warm.

The main name - keffiyeh - is associated with the Iraqi city of El-Kufa on the Euphrates River. Perhaps it was there that they began to wear it for the first time many centuries ago.

Another name for the scarf - shemagh or shemakh, is said to have appeared thanks to the soldiers of the British army. They, and later the American soldiers who came to this region, appreciated the merits of the headscarf in local conditions, and now such a headscarf is one of the attributes of the military style - military.

Another very common name for this scarf is "arafatka".

This name is associated with a man named Yasser Arafat - the leader of the independence movement (from Israel) of the Palestinian Authority. Yasser Arafat was a prominent figure on the global political agenda in the eighties and nineties. He often appeared on television screens and the whole world remembered with a checkered black and white scarf on his head.

Shemakh comes in different colors, and the pattern may also vary. Different variants are common in different regions of the Arab world. Somewhere it will be a black and white or red and white cell, somewhere more intricate patterns, the drawing is more like a network, options in colors are possible.

There are also many options for wearing a scarf. You can simply cover your head with it without tying it, while usually using a special circle, which is placed on your head over a scarf.

The collage below contains various options for a scarf and various options for its use.

You can tie a scarf in one of the common ways. In one case, the scarf will completely envelop the head from crown to neck, leaving only a slit for the eyes. Otherwise, the scarf will hide only the lower part of the face to the eyes.
You can wear a scarf like a scarf.
