Crocuses often have bright colors, purple, yellow. But white crocuses are often confused with white snowdrops.
Trying to figure out what specific features each of the plants has, I noticed the following.
Crocus petals are more elongated and look up.
This is a yellow crocus.
In a snowdrop, they are shorter and the bell is lowered down.
Snowdrops a couple of days ago.
And they are today.
The leaves of the crocus are thinner, those of the snowdrop are wider.
The official name for crocus is saffron.
The botanical name of the snowdrop is galanthus. These flowers are from different species.
In a broad sense, snowdrops are often called both because they are the first, after the snow melts.
True, in our case, there is no snow and there was almost no snow this winter, but there are snowdrops. A strange phenomenon, there is no snow, but there are snowdrops. Happens.
There were years when tulips were already blooming in our region on March 8. But this year, despite global warming, which they scare, spring is in no hurry and so far only snowdrops and only one, the first yellow crocus.
