It has already been announced that the GPT-5 version will be ready by the end of this year. And they say that it will be orders of magnitude superior in its capabilities to the existing GPT-4 chat bot. Perhaps the fifth version is already ready for beta tests and calling now is somehow pointless.
Incomprehensible letter. Whether such PR for AI, or forcing fear of AI (why?), Or an attempt to relieve oneself of responsibility for what the development of these systems, to which they had a hand, could result in.
Whether really - they saw, they were horrified, they came to their senses, they decided to warn.
The fact that a developed Artificial Intelligence (if it really is Intelligence) can pose a threat to people has long been described in science fiction and is understandable at the level of a simple layman like me, who is at least a little interested in reading, hearing, watching something somewhere. In order to imagine at least a little, it is enough to remember your helplessness when, due to viruses or for other reasons, the technique on which access to something important depends fails, temporarily becomes uncontrollable and transfer this experience to Artificial Intelligence in the era of singularity, which has free access to the network, which by that time (suppose) already takes part in infrastructure management, in decision-making. This is not a call to be afraid of it, but extreme caution should be exercised when introducing this tool. It is all the more strange that the people who are directly involved in this have noticed the threat only now, when the process is almost impossible to stop. Therefore, the statement seemed strange.
However, it may have been said before, but right now it sounded so loud, when the topic of AI is heard every day, on a wave of excitement.
And in the subject, very fresh news today from Italy. They have already gathered to introduce a ban on the use of AI chat GPT-4. So far, this is justified by problems with the threat of leakage of personal data. Perhaps this is just somehow connected with the letter of engineers.
Looks like it will be interesting (again). Don't relax.😆
