Postcard maker update and postcard for Ice Cream Day June 10
Finally updated the Postcard Maker app.
Before that, in the applications section there was a postcard designer based on a photo editor script, which I once dug up somewhere on github. I sawed out the excess from there, added some functions, crossed it with something and got a prototype of the constructor.
For a long time I did not develop or update it, there was no motivation. But recently I noticed that Yandex began to send little by little from the search for people who need an online postcard designer, and then I decided - it's time.
In a couple of weeks, I wrote a new application from scratch (html + css + js). Of course, using some kind of libraries like jquery-ui or html2canvas, I did not invent the wheel.
Compared to the previous version, there are more options for customizing the design. For example, you can make a gradient background, control photo strokes and corner rounding in detail, you can download a ready-made postcard in a resolution that is high enough to be printed on photo paper. Finally made the postcard designer adapted for mobile devices. Of course, it’s better to work with the designer on a computer, but on a smartphone and tablet, in principle, it’s also possible.
There is still work to be done (there is always), to improve the interface, add new templates - postcard layouts, this process is endless... When working on a new website, application, I usually have a moment when I realize that most of the work has already been done And it's time to post it publicly. For if I delay publishing until everything is “just perfecto”, I will never publish. And in general, there is a risk that interest in the project will burn out and in general it is not yet known whether there will be any return from this work, except for creative satisfaction. Therefore - that's it, in public right now and that's it!
Below is an example of a postcard for Ice Cream Day, which is tomorrow June 10th. Created in this application. A photo was used from the free photo stock unsplash.com/photos/KicRYTFI4PU where you can find many cool photos for all occasions (requests must be entered in English). As a background - a gradient that I created from the postcard settings.
The postcard designer itself is here: https://en.unila.ru/apps/27
Later I will make a big review post on how you can use the designer settings to create different postcard designs.
